Call Kamala harris and tell her to drop the charges against Gabriel Meyers

by Defiant (styrofoam [at] riseup.net)
TELL KAMALA TO DROP THE CHARGES!
Almost a year after the July 2005 anti-G8 protest and the beating of Officer Peter Sheilds, the SFPD and the FBI do not have the person who they are looking for. That means that the government needs a scapegoat. That person is Gabriel Meyers.
On May 19th, a judge in San Francisco upheld felony and misdemeanor charges in regards to Mr. Meyers arrest at the July 2005 demonstration (the charges are not in connection to the beating of Officer Sheilds). This ruling gave the DA's office the green light to continue with proceedings that could bring Gabe Meyers to trial. Despite the ruling in favor of the government, the presiding judge stated herself; that the prosecution does not have a very strong case.

CALL OR E-MAIL KAMALA HARRIS AND TELL HER DROP THE CHARGES AGAINST GABRIEL MEYERS!

Kamala Harris is under pressure from the SF Police Department and the SF Police Officers Association to go forward with the prosecution of Gabriel Meyers despite the weakness of the case. Kamala Harris, especially during upcoming election time, needs the support of the POA. Her office is already on shaky terms with the police union for her refusal to seek the death penalty in the case of the killing of Officer Espinoza in 2004.

TELL THE DA THAT GABRIEL MEYERS IS NOT TO BE USED AS A POLITICAL CHESS PIECE NOR IS HE TO BE FURTHER SCAPEGOATED!

Gabe is urging his supporters to calll the District Attorney's Office at: (415) 553-1752

or

send an e-mail to: http://www.sfgov.org/site/mainpages_form.asp?id=18611 (select District Attorney for agency)

Gabe appreciates your ongoing support for him. With it is the only way he is going to get through this.

Thank you for your time and solidarity
