Democratizing the Legislature - Proportional Representation
In a democracy, those elected to government should ideally embody the views of a representative cross-section of society.
The role of government should be premised on the concept that when elected officials make decisions on pertinent issues - those decisions reflect the will of the people. This can only occur if elected officials stay true to the values they supported during their campaigns and voters have a wide range of candidates to choose from.
Vote for Todd Chretien in June 6 Primary
The Green Party has three Senatorial candidates vying for the party's nomination in the June 6 primary. While all of them support the values of the Green Party I am endorsing Todd Chretien.
When Cindy Sheehan announced she would not run for Senate against Diane Feinstein she stated "Todd Chretien is a personal friend of mine. He is a man of integrity and peace. I encourage all Californians to take a hard look at his campaign."
Todd has already raised nearly twice as much money as his Republican opponent for Senate, all coming from individual contributors only. I believe his campaign has the potential to galvanize hundreds of thousands of voters in support of his pro-peace candidacy.

We have cleared our first fundraising hurdle and will begin filming a paid ad for television on May 28th. We would like to thank all of you who have contributed to our campaign so far, and helped made this first important step possible.
Our next step is to raise enough money to begin showing the ads in as many markets as possible. We believe the citizens of California are looking for new choices in politics and TV ads are one important way we can reach new voters.
