Organizer/AuthorCarl
On June 6th, the day of the California elections, the Peoples Revolutionary Organization will be holding an all day long counter-election outside polling precincts in Petaluma. PRO will start the day outside of the Luchessi Center, and move towards the westside throughout the day. voters will get to choose between \"Capitalist,\" \"Imperialist,\" \"War Monger,\" \"Racist/sexist/classist/homophobe,\" \"criminal,\" or \"all of the above.\"
participants will then get to throw away their vote into a garbage can. the purpose of this event is to demonstrate to our community that our electoral system is a fraud, a lie perpetrated to give American citizens the illusion of choice, while true progress lies beyond the ballot, in revolutionary change that will uproot the deeply ingrained systems of oppression, violence, and domination. the P.R.O. seeks direct democracy, which can only exist in a world where we are allowed to control our own fates, and not relinquish our lives to our \"trusty representatives,\" who only represent the interests of the dominant class.
along with the ballots, there will be numerous pamphlets and flyers outlining these ideas and the need for direct participation in order to establish authentic democracy. students on various campuses will also be demonstrating to their fellow students and encouraging participation in this counter-election.
we urge all people around California to hold similar actions, or boycott the election in any way possible. this, as with all American elections, is a fraud. we mustn't capitulate to an undemocratic system.
