Call to Action

STOP THE KYL/CORNYN AMENDMENT (Number 3969)

Immigration reform legislation is taking a turn for the worse. Senators Kyl (R-AZ) and Cornyn (R-TX) are poised to offer an amendment that would strip the right of temporary workers to obtain green cards. Right now, the Senate compromise allows temporary workers to apply for a green card if their work is needed long-term. Under that provision, they could do so with an employer sponsor after 1 year of work, or after 4 years of work they could apply on their own for permanent residence. It is urgent for lawmakers to unite in opposition to this bad amendment and stop Senators Kyl and Cornyn from stripping hard working immigrants of the ability to apply for a green card!

Please call your Senators today: Call 202-224-3121 to reach your Senators via the Capitol switchboard.

Suggested script:

Hello, my name is (your NAME) and I am calling from (your CITY, STATE). I strongly urge you to oppose and vote down the Kyl/Cornyn amendment (Number 3969). This amendment would strip the rights of temporary workers to obtain green cards. This amendment would eliminate the opportunity for temporary workers to ever apply for permanent residence. We need realistic, workable and humane immigration reform legislation that will provide a path to citizenship for all immigrants, keep families together and protect our civil rights, liberties and due process.

Vote NO on the Kyl/Cornyn amendment (Number 3969)
