All Out for the Regents Meeting (5/18)

by UCSC Students Against War
regents5_06_flyer.jpg
******PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY TO STUDENTS AND STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS******

What?: Represent STUDENT VOICES to not stand silent as the Regents act IN
OUR NAME
When?: May 18th
Where?: UCSF-Laurel heights, 3333 California St., San Francisco
How?: Students Against War (SAW) is organizing carpools. We will be
meeting at 6:45 AM Thursday morning at both the Cedar St. parking lot
(farmer's market location) and at Baytree Quarry and leaving at
approximately 7 AM to arrive on time for a 9:45 AM public comment period.
If you need a ride or can provide one, please e-mail: ridestoregents [at] yahoo.com

Why?: The UC Regents are joining the UC and Bechtel Corp., a notorious war
profiteer and human rights violator, to be the contractors to the US
nuclear weapons laboratories (DESPITE repeated UC-wide resolutions in the
past from faculty and students and a recent UC Berkeley student-gov.
resolution that ties be severed), and to be the producers of a new
generation of bunker-buster nuclear weapons which could be used in a
nuclear strike against Iran. Without significant disarmament efforts,
nuclear proliferation will continue around the world.

The UC Regents (who are appointed for 12 year terms) also continue to
abuse their undemocratic and unaccountable positions by squandering
unauthorized public funds to pay themselves hundreds of millions of
dollars at the expense of students, the university and the public.
