House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi knew about Bush's NSA phone-call database

by vote Green
Isn't it time SF elect someone better able to stand up to Bush? Matt Gonzales, running as a Green, got 47% of the vote for mayor and almost won in a short and underfunded two-month campaign. Can't another Green do as well or better with more time and planning? SF can then send the first Green to Congress this fall and set an example for the nation. If not here, where? Everyone disappointed with Democrats in SF should register and vote for the alternative candidate with the best chance of winning. The time to act is now. Short of a victory in November, a third party candidate nearly winning in SF should give Pelosi serious pause as did Gonzales' run against Newsome.
U.S. PHONE-CALL DATABASE IGNITES PRIVACY UPROAR
RESPONSE: Bush doesn't deny widespread collection of information, invokes Sept. 11

...

...Bush, who added that top congressional leaders had been informed of the newly disclosed program, as was the case with the security agency's eavesdropping.

...

Bush did not say if any of those top figures in Congress had raised objections when briefed about the program. But a spokeswoman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, said Pelosi had raised concerns when she was told about the collection of phone company records and the security agency's surveillance program.

Pelosi said Thursday she spoke with House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., and asked for a congressional review of the phone-database activities.

...

- now she stands up, five years into the program, only after corporate media revealed the database to the entire US public

by you have a point.
I like Matt, but thought it was foolish to vote for him over Pelosi, whi is after all set to be the first female speaker of the house.

This, however, will change my mind, because it means she can't be trusted to do the right thing in a bad situation.

You should hit it hard.
A Democrat-controlled House wouldn't impeach, Pelosi says

Saturday, May 13, 2006

Washington -- House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco has told her caucus that the idea of impeaching President Bush isn't in the cards if the party takes over the House in November's elections.

...

Pelosi also restated her opposition to the idea of censuring Bush over his decision to invade Iraq in March 2003.

...

Even though she said impeachment wouldn't be on the table, Pelosi supports investigations into such issues as prewar intelligence about Iraq and contracts awarded in Iraq to Halliburton Corp. and other companies.

What must be done is to take back the DEMOCRATIC Party -- not fool around with third parties.

Democratic "leaders" -- except for Senator Kennedy, the southern populists, and a few others -- haven't spoken up, or spoken out, or concerned themselves with the rights, the health, or the economic well-being of most Americans.

Too bad for these "Democrats" -- they should affiliate themselves with the Republicans, whose interest they serve.

But there's no need to fool around with third-parties, or to throw votes away on third party candidates -- that just helps the Republicans, and lets the Democratic pretenders pull the party further into the corporate pocket.

Run against these guys -- including the females -- this very November! Registered write-in candidates can do what needs doing.

In Mendocino County, write-in candidate Carol Wolman, M.D is campaigning against "our" Congressman, a "centrist" suit who's big on booze/real estate/pharmaceuticals, pretty good on fish and trees, and next to nothing on social issues, women's issues, poverty or institutional corruption in general, or much of anything else.

Try it.
