"Wegman's Cruelty" footage and interview with filmaker aired on national television

by karen dawn
DawnWatch: Please thank Primetime for airing Wegmans egg cruelty footage -- 5/11/06
You can read most of the text of last night's (Thursday, May 11) wonderful ABC Primetime story, and see some of the footage, on the web at http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=1946795&page=1

We are told, "The disturbing images Durand shot include a chicken with its head caught between bars and another trapped in a pile of manure." And we see that footage. We also hear much from Adam Durand, who comes across beautifully, saying that the intention was simply to get in, document, and leave, and to commit no vandalism since, "that would just draw away from the story of these hens." However when the activists found hens dying, some drowning in excrement, they couldn't leave them behind.

This is the second animal friendly segment Chris Cuomo (reporter) and Primetime have done in the last few months -- in October they covered the horror behind dolphin theme parks, that segment bringing them a Genesis Award. Please make sure last night's show gets all the praise it deserves. Positive feedback for coverage of animal issues will encourage similar coverage -- stories that are seen on Primetime by over eight million viewers! You can send Primetime a comment at:
