May 1st International Workers Day: Actions on the California Central Coast

Salinas, Watsonville, Seaside and Santa Cruz
SALINAS:

Gather at Closter Park (401 Towt St) 10 AM. March will move through Salinas ending at Constitution Park near Natividad
County Hospital, in a rally 12-4:00. Another march will begin at 4:00 at Constitution Park, ending with another rally at
Constitution Park at 5:30. This event is sponsored by Teamsters Local 890, United Farm Workers Union (763-4820 or 674-0270), LUPE (424-4100), ¡VOTE! (Central Coast Citizenship Project) (754-1622), May 1st Alliance, La Radio Campesina (754-1622, Institute of the Mexicans in the Exterior, CASE (Community Alliance for a Sustainable Economy) 254-4916, Escuela de Libertad, and Monterey Bay Central Labor Council.


WATSONVILLE:

Gather at Plaza at 12 noon, march at 1:00 PM through community, return to Plaza for 3:00 rally 6:30 PM Prayer Vigil at
Presbyterian Church 112 E Lake St. March to Plaza at 7:30 PM; Rally at Plaza at 8 PM. This event is sponsored by a coalition of community groups, coordinated by CASE (Community Alliance for a Sustainable Economy) (254-4916).


SEASIDE:

Gather at VFW Hall on Fremont, March to Seaside City Hall for rally. This event is coordinated by LULAC.


SANTA CRUZ:

At University of California at Santa Cruz, a picket line will be up from 6 AM to 12 noon at main campus entrance at
Bay & High St. At noon, the group will march through Santa Cruz to the Clock Tower. Then march to rally at San Lorenzo Park. This event is coordinated by a coalition of campus unions and student groups.

Also in Santa Cruz, gather at 12 noon in Beach Flats Park Raymond & Leibrandt St near Boardwalk). March through Santa Cruz to the Clock Tower. After meeting up with group marching from UC campus, march together to rally at San Lorenzo Park. This event is sponsored by the Resource Center for Non-Violence (460-0112).
