Gun violence and Crime in the Bayview and San Francisco
There is a Select Committee headed by Sophie Maxwell that holds meetings in Room 263 trying to address issues linked to Gun Violence and Crime but having NO BLUE PRINT, less time lines, and with no Accountability in sight. Year after year Black on Black violence increases. Year after year more of our youth mostly Black continue to die. In the Bayview people are so used to violence and death because it occurs so very often. Since Sophie Maxwell was elected District Supervisor more youth have died and the whole Bayview Hunters Point has been adversely impacted. Sophie Maxwell continues to blame others while showing NO LEADERSHIP what so ever. It is time the community remove Sophie Maxwell from office and bring in good leadership.
The Select Committee on Gun and Crime violence meets in Room 263 at SF City Hall with no goals and time lines and with no vision what so ever.
The Select Committee talks about Crime and Violence without any consideration that the Police Commission can be of help. The Select Committee will talk about ex-offenders without having any idea about what really happens to ex-offenders once they are released in Society.
Most exoffenders live in Single Room Occupany (SROs) hotels. Here they live much as they lived when in incarceration without little help. Many of them try to get a job but find it difficult. The City and County of San Francisco we talk the talk but cannot walk the walk when it comes to exoffenders.
In San Francisco we have a diverse population and again again we fail those that need help. Many Samoans, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern folks, Blacks, Chinese, get no help when they are incarcerated.
Incarceration is a businesses where crooks are making billions incarcerating people and especially youth. Many of our youth from San Francisco are sent to other States to be incarcerated - we simply do not talk about this issues but rather discuss the issues in general terms.
We can do better in San Francisco by helping youth and others before they go to jail. Once any one goes to jail the folks come out worse then before. They learn stuff that they would never learn before about crime.
Again and again we hear outsiders from Chicago and other places telling us San Franciscans how to run our business in San Francisco linked to crime. This nonsense must stop.
