Captive Elephants Need Your Help Now!
The California Elephant Protection Act (AB 3027),
sponsored by Assemblymember Lloyd Levine, will make it a
misdemeanor to use or possess bullhooks or chains near an
elephant. This bill will also set minimum space requirements for
elephants in circuses and zoos. Elephants are highly
intelligent, social animals who live in extended family groups
and mirror humans in terms of emotion, age progression,
longevity, and social bonds. AB 3027 will set minimum
standards of care and excellence for elephant handling for the
rest of the nation to follow. For more information
about the egregious training methods employed by elephant
handlers as well as animal welfare concerns facing elephants,
see Circuses.com
and SaveWildElephants.com.
