Announcing an all out major benefit party to kick-off the fundraising strategy for filming of GODSPEED, the movie, based upon the award-winning book of the same name by dynamo Lynn Breedlove, this summer. Hot off the heels of financial support from San Francisco darlings, The Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence, Godspeed has amassed major players from San Francisco's performance communities to raise funds:

Be dazzled by special appearances from JAY WALKER, star of the documentary "Jaywalking", Mr. Trannyshack 2004, Winner of the San Francisco Drag King Contest, 2005; drag king troupes THE COCKIVORES (brilliant gender-benders, stole the show at the Erotic Exotic Ball, 2005) and CITIZEN KINGS (runner up for Best Drag King Troupe for SFDK 2005, political virtuosos); members of the DIAMOND DAGGERS, performing their hot, show-stopping feminine burlesque (these ladies sometimes dance with water!!); DAMEGOODZ featuring the stellar Skye Patrick; SISTAS IN THE PIT, giving us music we can dance to; politicizing while philosophizing their dance moves are BURLESQUE ESQUE who are returning to the stage for this important benefit after what feels like a really long break...MC'ing the night's show with adorable high-energy are the RADICAL CHEERLEADERS and the OAKLAND FEJACKS; and rounding out the night with all their sexiness are amazing songsters STORM FLOREZ and SHAWNA VIRAGO performing solo!!!

GODSPEED is a beautiful narrative set against the backdrop of San Francisco. Based on the award winning novel by punk rock star, Lynn Breedlove, this project features a transgender punk-rocker's story on the big screen for the first time. Jim is addicted to speed both metaphorically and physically; he just can't bike fast enough to deliver his package or get to his stripper girl's house. "This ain't no L-Word," states co-director Shani Heckman. "Jim won't be wearing any Prada or renting a fabulous condo, instead, much like his predecessors, she's focused only on survival in the big city and finding true love."

The Godspeed Film Project is a fiscally sponsored project of Intersection for the Arts,http://www.intersectionarts.org, San Francisco's oldest alternative arts space, presenting ground-breaking work in the literary, performing, visual and Interdisciplinary arts. Donations made directly to Intersection for the Arts on our behalf, are fully tax-deductible. Please write GODSPEED in the subject line of your check to ensure appropriate deposit.
