The people are on the move in a continuing historic mobilization in cities all over the U.S. to oppose HR 4437 and other draconian laws which would criminalize undocumented workers as a part of the general attack on all working people in the United States. These photos show some of the participants of over 25,000 marchers in San Jose, California on Monday April 10, 2006. Most of the marchers were immigrants from Mexico and other Central American countries.

The people are on the move in a continuing historic mobilization in cities all over the U.S. to oppose HR 4437 and other draconian laws which would criminalize undocumented workers as a part of the general attack on all working people in the United States.  These photos show some of the participants of the over 25,000 marchers in San Jose, California on Monday April 10, 2006.  Most of the marchers were immigrants from Mexico and other Central American countries.

As the photos show, whole families participated with their children, other relatives and friends.  Students and youth were a significant part of the marchers.  Clearly, these are hard working people who contribute a tremendous and vital amount to the U.S. economy.  They do so for low wages and few or no benefits.  Working people are beginning to recognize that  an attack on one segment of the work force is also an attack on all segments.  Those who benefit most from such attacks are the corporations and other businesses who increase their profits at the expense of the workers.

Based on the numbers of people marching in cities and towns all over the U.S., it doesn't look like this movement will go away anytime soon.  In fact, it is likely to grow as economic conditions worsen.
