A rising level of poverty, a widening gap between rich and poor, and increasing poverty among racial minorities has been reflected in an increasing income gap between low-level and professional-technical jobs. As San Francisco begins another period of expansion in the financial and bio-tech sectors, these trends are certain to intensify, raising questions of whether the corporate forces intend the City to become an armed Disneyland or Rio-North.
