WALKING TO NEW ORLEANS
Pratt will talk about the vivid experience of the recent march she was part of from Mobile, Ala., to New Orleans for the right of return for Katrina survivors. Pratt, a contributing editor to Workers World newspaper, has made important contributions to the anti-racist, women's liberation and lesbian/gay/bi/trans movements. Minnie Bruce will also read from her poetry about the struggle against racism in the south.
SAVING BAYVIEW HUNTERS POINT
Colbert will talk about the fight against the evictions and gentrification in BayView Hunters Point. The SF BayView newspaper has extensively exposed the rich developers' land grab in BayView Hunters Point. Her reporting and activism have not gone unnoticed. Just a month ago, she wrote in the SF BayView, "Are you aware that there are armed thugs, dressed in blue, harassing the residents of our neighborhood," and nearly every day since, she and her family have been harassed by the SFPD.
Wheelchair accessible.
