Location Details:
University of California at Davis campus, Davis, CA 95616, U.S.A.; located in the California Central Valley, 15 miles from Sacramento, 90 miles from San Francisco, with easy access from Sacramento International Airport.

We are organizing a Gathering / Festival & 'Ladder' Tourney of and for TAI CHI CHUAN (Taijiquan, T'ai-Chi Ch'uan ) TUI SHOU (Tuishou, T'ui-Shou) "Push Hands" Players, to be held on the weekend of Mother's Day 2007 (2006May11-12-13). This Gathering / Festival & Tourney is to be associated with and is to take place in conjunction with the "2007 Whole Earth Festival (WEF)". WEF is held on the University of California (UC) Davis campus, where we also will hold our Gathering & Tourney. WEF was first started in 1969, and has been held yearly since 1976!, and is an event of World renown.

Our 2006 Whole Earth Tui Shou Gathering / Festival & Tourney will include educational workshops by prominent Tui Shou "Push Hands" Players, as well as other group events and social activities. But the main event of major interest will be an "all day", marathon "Round Robin" and "Ladder" Tourney Competition starting in the early A.M. on Sunday, 13 May, Mother's Day 2006, and ending sometime that P.M..

For the Whole Earth Tui Shou Tourney, the Rules of Competition will be fully developed and finalized by the consensus agreement of the Registered Players at the Gathering / Festival (by those registered as competitors before Noon on Saturday, 06 May 2006), with full agreement on Rules of Competition reached by Sundown on Saturday, 12 May 2007. In the meantime preliminary, Summary of Rules of Competition will be generated by e-mail "conferencing" by those interested in being competitors in 2007. If you are so interested please contact us at < weTuiShou "att" Gmail "dott" com >. We will e-mail you the latest draft of the Rules of Competition, and you may then contribute your suggestions to those Rules. As presently conceived, the Tourney will consist of individual Challenge Bouts UP / DOWN "Ladders", within various Weight Classes. Players may "Challenge" (or "Accept Challenges" from) players UP / DOWN within their Weight Class "Ladder", depending on their "Ladder" ranking. Provision is made so high ranked Players may also enter and challenge on a "Ladder" higher than their Weight Class "Ladder". The Competitors' final "Ladder" Standings in each Weight Class "Ladder" will be published. We will try to raise moneys for small but hopefully significant "purses" as Award/Prizes for the top three Competitors in each Weight Class "Ladder". Please contact us if you, your organization, or your company would like to sponsor one or more of the Award/Prizes.

WEF is organized year-to-year by UC Davis student volunteers, with the help of past Festival student organizers, entirely on a consensus agreement basis! (since 1969!, & yearly since 1976, see http://wef.ucdavis.edu/). We also want to use this consensus agreement organizational approach as a grounding for our own Festival / Gathering & Tourney. So we want, we call on and really do need involvement Tui Shou "Push Hands" players from aound the World. We want your input & assistance! We want to draw on your expertise and your experience to help make this event an ongoing yearly success! So, please if you enjoy to play and/or compete in Tai Chi Tui Shou "Push Hands", contact us with your input and suggestions .

Our "Push Hands" Gathering / Festival Tourney is to be known as "The Annual Whole Earth T'ui Shou "Push Hands" Gathering / Festival & 'Ladder' Tourney" and is to be held yearly on Mother's Day weekend, as part of the Whole Earth Festival held on the UC Davis University campus, and is to be known as
"weTuiShou" for short. As a major part of and focus of the Gathering / Festival there will be organized a "Round Robin" and "Ladder" Tourney whose Rules of Competition is determined by the Competitors, and Judging of the Competition is performed by the Player/Competitors present at the Gathering.

This announcement is made a year ahead of schedule so that you may have the opportunity to plan for and schedule your own attendance.

This is a public announcement, please feel free to let others know. Please do copy and forward this e-mail to potentially interested persons, being mindful not to "spam" people. Thank you for your assist.

This Whole Earth Tui Shou Gathering / Festival & Tourney is organized and sponsored by The Tai Chi Club at UC Davis.
