http://SaveOceanBeach.org - needed letters to rudy WITH SOLUTIONS
Have you heard about the proposed ban on fires at ocean
beach. Any ideas? Or places to send it out? Here are some
ideas proposed by folks who want to preserve our right to
assemble freely.
- - - What's needed: - - -
Positive solutions for preserving our right to assemble.
Clean fuel: clean wood. No particleboard or plywood. No painted or treated wood. No Nails.
NO GLASS ON BEACH. Get involved; pick up trash and bottles.
See a fire with nails? Drag the ashes with a magnet. Leave no trace.
We are facing a ban on fires because of careless and / or inconsiderate behavior of litterbugs and drunks.
If you care about 1st ammendment right to assemble you may see the importance of keeping a clean site.

there is a definite need for fire pits, but unless there are private donors/ a huge demand for them with financial backing it is not going to happen. this is the best bet for ensuring our right to assemble freely. -Bethany

Young Thai Coconuts and Formaldehyde
There is a lot of discussion that these coconuts, after being trimmed
to a smaller white husk core, are preserved, however, in reading this
document http://www.fas.usda.gov/GainFiles/200308/145985752.pdf though
dated, it seems formaldehyde is prohibited from use...not to say that
the young coconut is not preserved, but where's the evidence that it's
been dipped in formaldehyde before it reaches the States?

The "department [of defence] must be prepared to 'fight the net'". America's war on the web 02 Apr 2006 By Neil Mackay "...[Details] are contained in a report, entitled The Information Operations Roadmap, commissioned and approved by US secretary of defence Donald Rumsfeld and seen by the Sunday Herald. The Pentagon has already signed off $383 million to force through the document’s recommendations by 2009. Military and intelligence sources in the US talk of 'a revolution in the concept of warfare'... Firstly, the Pentagon says it will wage war against the internet in order to dominate the realm of communications, prevent digital attacks on the US and its allies, and to have the upper hand when launching cyber-attacks against enemies. Secondly, psychological military operations, known as psyops, will be at the heart of future military action... Thirdly, the US wants to take control of the Earth's electromagnetic spectrum, allowing US war planners to dominate mobile phones, PDAs, the web, radio, TV and other forms of modern communication. That could see entire countries denied access to telecommunications at the flick of a switch by America... The report says the US military’s first priority is that the 'department [of defence] must be prepared to 'fight the net'. The internet is seen in much the same way as an enemy state by the Pentagon because of the way it can be used to propagandise, organise and mount electronic attacks on crucial US targets. Under the heading 'offensive cyber operations', two pages outlining possible operations are blacked out."

OCEAN BEACH, SF - BONFIRE BAN?
Yes, we do know that many many JRS readers don't live in San Francisco, but a lot of JRS readers *do*, and aren't subscribed yet to the San Francisco Announce List (are you?? Send a blank email to sanfrancisco-announce-subscribe [at] burningman.com). Plus, in the world of Burning Man, the beach is where it all began.
A ban on beach burns at Ocean Beach is under consideration in San Francisco. Burning Man began on San Francisco's beaches, and in fact, we used to put on a Last Sunday beach burn (every month that it wasn't pouring rain) (back before they got too big for us to host). Point is, Burning Man doesn't want to see the beautiful tradition of a beach bonfire disappear in SF! Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) is now accepting public comment on a proposal to ban beach fires at Ocean Beach.
We heard from many of our burning friends on this issue this week, including Tom Wrobel:
"We beleive that fires on Ocean Beach are an essential part of San
Francisco's culture!
http://saveoceanbeach.org/stopthefireban
Action you can do NOW in under 5 minutes time,
1. Sign the petition at the website below
2. Forward this action request to every list you are on and your
friends, with your own personal words about times you have had with
fire at Ocean Beach.
This diverse community would like to explore alternatives with the
GGNRA to address specific issues regarding fires at Ocean Beach. We
support the alternatives of concrete fire rings, a permitting process,
better signage, permitting of on site sales of clean firewood for use at Ocean
Beach, but absolutely oppose the proposed ban of fires.
GGNRA will be accepting public comments through April 15, 2006.
Policy changes are expected to be effective on May 1, 2006, unless we
pressure GGNRA to extend the public comment period.
With your help we can extend the public comment period and explore
alternative solutions!" - Tom Wrobel

Whistle-Blower Outs NSA Spy Room 07 Apr 2006 AT&T provided National Security Agency eavesdroppers with full access to its customers' phone calls, and shunted its customers' internet traffic to data-mining equipment installed in a secret room in its San Francisco switching center, according to a former AT&T worker cooperating in the Electronic Frontier Foundation's lawsuit against the company. The EFF class action lawsuit, filed in federal court in San Francisco last January, alleges that AT&T violated federal and state laws by surreptitiously allowing the government to monitor phone and internet communications of AT&T customers without warrants.

First Rule of Holes, Part Deux 7 April 2006 Larry Sakin RANTS
A couple of weeks ago, I admonished President Bush about his foreign and domestic policies using the old military adage mentioned in the title. Unfortunately, it seems like this rule needs to be repeated, this time for the benefit of Democrats running for Congress.
The hole the Democrats are digging for themselves in the 2006 midterms will probably reach China by the time November comes around. Last week, the Democratic Party announced that they have encouraged their mainstream candidates to continue in the same campaign mode the Democrats were in during 2004. So instead of addressing the issues the American electorate desperately wants to hear from their so-called leaders, the Democrats are planning on lying low on the most controversial topics of this year’s election, including the Iraq War.

BIRD FLU INTRODUCED VIA VACCINE?
'Little known but much too broad, Project Bioshield is a $5.6 billion program Bush signed into law in July 2004 that would apparently strip U.S. citizens of any recourse in the event that the feds decide on certain health-care remedies. These would presumably include the mandatory application of unproven vaccines to counter real or perceived health threats worldwide.
Recent reports use the term "Bio-Fascism" to characterize initiatives such as Project Bioshield, describing it as "the merging of the military medical establishment with public health bureaucracies, to enforce the will of the ostensible federal regulator (the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)) and Big Pharma. The latter is a descriptive term for the gigantic transnational drug companies who have used their enormous clout to generate government programs that mandate the use of their products for so-called public safety purposes.'

# victoriasdirtysecret.net April 11th National Day of Action
Join our April 11th National Day of Action to expose Victoria's Dirty
Secret!
http://www.victoriasdirtysecret.net/actioncenter
Approximately 395 million catalogs are mailed by Victoria's Secret
each year--that's more than one million a day! Most of these catalogs
end up in the trash or at best in the recycling bin--often without even
being looked at. Paper for these catalogs is destroying Endangered
Forests like the great northern Boreal Forest of Canada.
Canada's Boreal Forest is an area over 12 times the size of
California, representing 25 percent of the world's remaining intact
forest. This globally significant forest is one of the largest carbon
sinks in the world, making it vital to regulating our changing climate.
Its lakes, rivers and streams are also the largest freshwater system on
Earth. For more information, go to the ForestEthics Boreal page .
http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=88139030&url_num=3&url=http://www.forestethics.org/article.php?list=type&type=18
<http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=88139030&url_num=3&url=http://www.forestethics.org/article.php?list=type&type=18>
Despite its global importance, over two acres of the Boreal are being
logged every minute, mostly through clearcutting. The tragic part is
that the Boreal is being clearcut to make disposable items like
catalogs for companies like Victoria's Secret, which gets at least 25%
of the paper for its catalogs from the Boreal Forest. Other materials
for Victoria's Secret products comes from other Endangered
Forests--like their paper bags, which are made from paper coming out of
the Southeast United States.
Because of its immense buying power, Victoria's Secret is in a
position to help change the catalog industry toward sustainable paper
purchasing. Unfortunately, the company has refused to make such
commitments to protect our Endangered Forests. So we're calling for an
International Day Of Action on April 11th and we need your help.
What can YOU do?
To get involved, add your action to the list, and get fact sheets,
postcards, or other materials for your event, go to
http://www.victoriasdirtysecret.net/dayofaction , email
catalogs [at] forestethics.org , or call 1-800-725-0087.
JOIN US ON APRIL 11th to protect Endangered Forests from Victoria's
Secret's destructive practices.

Dear george,
Americans are refusing to stand by silently and let the government’s illegal spying programs go on unquestioned and unauthorized. I’m writing to ask you to add your voice by participating in our next live National Town Hall meeting on spying, secrecy and presidential power.
On Tuesday, April 11, you can go online and tune in to our live forum in Denver, Colorado, where I will be joined by several distinguished panelists, including Bruce Fein, former Deputy Attorney General under President Reagan, former Colorado Senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart, and Mark Silverstein, ACLU of Colorado Legal Director. Dottie Lamm, the former first lady of Colorado, will moderate the event.
On Tuesday, you can tune in live and submit your own questions for the panel by going to:
http://www.aclu.org/presidentialpower
The event begins at 6 p.m. PDT/9 p.m. EDT. Experts from both sides of the aisle will discuss the controversy surrounding the Bush Administration’s program of illegal spying on Americans, and take questions from web audience members and live in Denver.
Together, our panel and live and online audience will break through the misinformation coming from the White House and address questions regarding the president’s violation of constitutional authority and federal law.
I hope you’ll join us live next Tuesday evening at 9 EDT/6 PDT:
http://www.aclu.org/presidentialpower
You can also watch a video archive of our February 20 National Town Hall. View the discussion, sign our Demand for the Truth and add your own comment to our call for an end to illegal spying on Americans. Selected questions and comments will be read live during the April 11 Town Hall.
Please join us then, and I hope you'll invite your friends to tune in as well. Thanks as always for your participation and support.
Sincerely, Anthony D. Romero Executive Director American Civil Liberties Union

# Wednesday, April 12, 7 -- 9 pm: Blogging and Podcasting -- An Exotic Dancers Education Project Workshop with Melissa Gira
CSC, 398 11th Street @ Harrison
NAKED IN PUBLIC: Blogging & Podcasting for the Brazen & Brave.
Adult entertainers and erotic professionals have been pushing technology on the web for over a decade, telling our stories and being among the first brave enough to get naked online not just for profit, but our own pleasure, too. Now, with the growth of blogging & podcasting, we have simple, powerful tools with the potential to take our freedom of self-expression even further.
So, have you always thought about starting a not-so-secret smut diary, and maybe meeting some like-minded bare-all writers? Have a voice like honey and a filthy mind ready to let loose with some audio erotica, but you just don't know where to begin with all that tech stuff? Want to learn how you can keep some privacy while getting naked on the web, and cover your bases when it comes to creating sexual content online? Spend two hours with sexy geek Melissa Gira exploring free content creation and management tools, getting hot and bothered over cheap gear, and talking about how to get the most out of putting your erotic self out there on the web for all to read, hear, and (hopefully) passionately bookmark and blog about.
Melissa Gira is a writer, multimedia artist, and web-based woman of pleasure. Her blogs are Sacredwhore.org and Sexerati.com. You can find her podcast, "whorecast," currently enjoying a spot between Barack Obama and Sean Hannity in iTunes' Top Ten Politics podcasts.
This event is open to the public and all all welcome, regardless of experience or ability. You must be 18+ and comfortable viewing and talking about adult content in class. A laptop is recommended but not required. We will have some electrical outlets for your laptop but please try to charge it fully before you bring it to class. The building is equipped with wireless Internet access. If you don't have a laptop please bring a pen and pad for notes.
Advanced tickets are $10 each at
http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaID=107346 No one turned away for lack of funds. Free tickets available for exotic dancers who work or have worked for Deja Vu or who can't afford to pay. If space is still available the day of the event tickets may be purchased in cash at the door for $20 per person. So that everyone can feel comfortable to create: no cameras or recording devices, please.

# Arsenal of Hypocrisy Wednesday, April 12 7:30 pm

Double Feature Presented by Gypsy
ARSENAL OF HYPOCRISY
This first film is a documentary about the Space Program and the
Military Industrial Complex. The origins of the Space Program date
back to Hitler and represent similar goals and values to those of his
regime. Many Americans associate NASA with advancements of science
for the good of humanity. In reality, NASA has been completely taken
over by the military. The militarization of space is above all about
surveillance of the citizens on this planet. The level of NASA's
technology will astound you This film is also about military
domination of the planet and about denying all other countries access
to the resources of outer space.

THE BATTLE FOR AMERICA'S SOUL
This film is also produced by the Global Network against Weapons and
Nuclear Power in Space. in the film, Bruce Gagnon gives a
presentation about the dependency of Americans on the Military
Industrial Complex for jobs. This is a real rude awakening. Bruce
suggests how to create alternatives to this dependency.

WHAT IF...
September 11th was not a surprise attack on America. But rather, a cold and calculated genocide put on by elements within our own government?
The Twin Towers were not brought down by jet fuel, but by a controlled demolition.
The Pentagon was not hit by a Boeing 757, but was hit by a missle.
At 5:20PM on 9/11, World Trade Center Building 7 collapsed straight down to the ground at the speed of gravity, even though it was not hit by any aircraft.
This film will prove without a shadow of a doubt that everything you know about 9-11 is a complete fabrication.

# 13th of April at 8:30 AM SF Grand Jury Targets G8 Protest & Independent Journalist
04/01/2006GRAND JURY SUBPOENA BEING RESISTED WITH MOTION TO QUASH
Yet another Federal Grand Jury in San Francisco targeting local activists has been convened. This time the apparent reason for the Grand Jury is to investigate the anti-G8 solidarity protest held in the Mission District of San Francisco on July 8, 2005, during which a local police officer was injured. Charges against three people in connection with the protest are pending in San Francisco Superior Court. Independent journalist and videographer Josh Wolf, a frequent poster to Indybay, has been subpoenaed to testify and to provide any notes taken and the full and unedited videotape recorded during the demonstration. The National Lawyers Guild is representing Josh Wolf and has filed a motion to quash the subpoena on several grounds including First Amendment journalistic protections and that the FBI is on an illegal "fishing expedition" aimed at aiding the separate local investigation by San Francisco police and prosecutors. On March 30th, a press conference was held on the steps of the San Francisco Federal Building before the hearing on quashing the subpoena. A written decision on the motion will be delivered at a later date. Josh Wolf urges people "to talk to your friends and neighbors about how the grand jury system (is) a vicious unconstitutional implementation of the law that is being used for political purposes."
At least two of those arrested July 8th are set to return to court on the 13th of April at 8:30 AM in Department 20 of the SF Hall of justice on 850 Bryant street. They are asking people to save the date, come to the courthouse, and show solidarity.

# Gabe Meyers, one of the defendants from last July's anti-G8 protests in
San Francisco has asked people to come support him at his upcoming court
date. Gabe is one of three arrestees from an incident where an SFPD
officer drove his car into a group of protesters and attacked them. The
federal government convened a Grand Jury to investigate this incident

# Yes Yes Yes
Hello beautiful ones...
I am really excited to introduce you to my first series of Raw Food Hands On Instruction and Dinner Classes coming this April.
I have designed three scrumptious menus for classes that I will be hosting on three consecutive weekends in April. The classes offer a holistic learning experience where participants see the recipe preparation demonstrated, hear instructions, and participate in making the actual recipes. Finally, each class completes with the participants enjoying the three course meal they just prepared.
As some of you may know, I have a life long commitment to "Living my Life As a Work of Art." I am also committed to providing opportunities and support for others in doing the same. In addition to me being a Personal Life Coach and NLP practitioner, I am also a certified Raw Food Chef. In fact, Raw Food has been an integral part of my life since 1997 and I have found it to be an incredible enhancement to my experience of life. # The Sisters present Perpetual Indulgence in the Park
Sunday, April 16, 2006 (11:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Dolores Park
18th Street and Dolores Street (Yahoo! Maps, Google Maps)
San Francisco, California
The Sisters of Pereptual Indulgence, Inc. 27th Anniversary Celebration
Continuing their mission to promulgate Universal Joy, the Sisters are proud to announce "Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park, an Easter picnic and celebration. This very San Francisco event brings together children, families, friends, artists and community activists all on one lawn to celebrate the Sisters' 27th Anniversary and enjoy a day in Dolores Park. This event is free to the public. "Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park promises to be lively and vivacious incorporating stage performances, children's activities and two cash-prize contests. (Performers TBA)
Sister MaryMae, this year's chair of "Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park, says "We have all of the old favorites, the Hunky Jesus Contest, the Bonnet Contest, Grants Giveaways and Saintings, but we are planning a lot of surprises and fun new tricks. The best thing about the Sisters' Birthday Celebration is that there is something for everyone. It's a true family day, from the kids events in the morning, picnicking in the park and ending with the more risqué things like the Hunky Jesus and Bonnet Contests. It's one of the few times you really can make everyone happy."
At 1p, participants will line up to parade across the stage in their Easter finest for our Bonnet Contest. Later, at 3:15p, this year's Hunky Jesus will be chosen. Both winners will receive a $100 cash prize.
In addition to providing an afternoon of merriment, the Sisters also hope to raise money for a whole year of grants awards.

-Bethany

the young coconut is not preserved, but where's the evidence that it's

<http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=88139030&url_num=3&url=http://www.forestethics.org/article.php?list=type&type=18>

Dan Piraro's utterly brilliant cartoon, Bizarro, runs daily in more than 200 markets across North America. It was voted Best Single-Panel Cartoon by the National Cartoonist Society for an unprecedented three straight years.

I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge about Raw Food and some of the gifts of the Raw Lifestyle with those interested. Check out my web site for more information.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything posted here and my next court date is on the 13th of April, but I was just making it clear that I am not the author of this posting. Well, just clearing things up for the record.
