The past seven months of living in Katrinaland have given me the opportunity to work with many grassroots relief organizations: Common Ground Collective, Veterans for Peace, Relief Spark, CAN-DO, Plenty International, World Shelters, Welcome Home Cafe and Emergency Communities (
http://www.emergencycommunities.org ). It has been a pleasure to get to know many of the heroic characters who have come to volunteer in the clean-up effort and organize revolutionary acts of community building.

For those who have not visited the gulf coast since Hurricane Katrina, and seen the wasteland it has become with their own eyes, it is hard to imagine what people here have gone through, or what it is to return the remains of their home.

April 20th to May 15th, I'll be touring California with a presentation sharing an overview of the gulf coast grassroots relief effort.

April 28th, 9pm, I'll be in San Francisco at Cell Space -

Volunteer work is very rewarding, but it makes buying expensive technical equipment very difficult. We've raised enough funds to buy a fast laptop to edit video footage for the presentations and documentary movie; now we need to purchase a digital projector to spread the light. Without a projector of our own, we are limited by where and how often we can do shows. Our time is short to raise these funds.
