CESAR CHAVEZ BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TO HIGHLIGHT FARMWORKERS STRUGGLES AND CONTRIBUTIONS
Come enjoy a benefit celebration in commemoration of Cesar Chavez Day this Friday, March 31st from 5:30-8 PM at Holy Cross Church in the Parish hall, 170 High Street, Santa Cruz (next to the Santa Cruz Mission). The benefit is hosted by the Davenport Resource Service Center and proceeds will support the Center's farm worker services. The 2nd Annual event will once again offer a truly amazing mole dinner featuring recipes from Oaxaca & Guanajuato, plus desserts and fresh made aguas frecas! Entertainment will include Mexican music, teatro, and good company! The cost of the event is $15.00/person. Updates will be presented about the current status of campesino health, immigration, and education in celebration of Chavez's legacy, plus information on the local & nationwide organizing against anti-immigrant legislation, including a report back on the 241 Mile March for Peace thru Califas which ended this past week.
