We have almost 40 art pieces which have been donated by very generous artists throughout santa cruz county. We also have 30 gift certificates from businesses in santa cruz, that we will be auctioning off as well.

In Calcutta’s Red Light District over 7,000 women and girls work as prostitutes.
Only one group has lower standing: Their children

Kids with Cameras is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching marginalized children the art of photography in communities all over the world. Currently, Kids with Cameras is building a school in Calcutta, India, specifically for children from the Red Light District because they are not allowed to attend public schools. Kids with Cameras was founded by photographer Zana Briski, who created the Academy Award winning documentary “Born into Brothels”.

This year, the Santa Cruz High School Leadership class is planning a silent auction of student and community art to benefit Kids with Cameras. After watching “Born into Brothels” in our leadership class, the class decided that it was immensely important to work to raise as much money as possible to benefit the children in India. We are planning a silent auction of any medium of art and a talent show of student performances.

The auction will be open to the public and will be held in the Santa Cruz High School Cafeteria, on Friday March 31st from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. All the profits raised from our silent auction will benefit the building of the Kids with Cameras School. Please come and support Kids with Cameras!
