The students are determined, passionate, unified, and they need some support.
Today (Tuesday) there were more student walkouts and the police were en force. The students were teargassed by police who were out in "tactical squad units." The "powers that be" mainly, the police brass and PVUSD administration should NOT be the primary people with input as to how to handle and guide the students from here.
This is a powerful moment and there are many teachers and allies who feel connected enough to the students and the issue to come together collectively, discuss, brainstorm and REALLY focus all this energy into a creative and productive place.
How about teach ins, panels, presenations, community work and PRODUCTIVE ACTION as "consequences" for their actions? Mas ideas? We need to get together now.
NO FINES FOR PARENTS AND NO CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR STUDENTS! This is what democracy looks like.

If you can't go to the meeting, another way to help is by contributing to Watsonville students' legal defense.
Attorney Luis Alejo says that donations may be sent to:
Watsonville Brown Berets
c/o 735 Pine Street
Santa Cruz, CA 95062
(Yes, that's in Santa Cruz -- and please respect privacy of occupants.)
Checks should be made out to "Watsonville Brown Berets".
Please act now.
Thanks!

I'm recalling how valuable the legal and solidarity training was for folks who protested the WTO in Seattle in 99. I'm wondering who in our community could offer a basic training, or possibly contact midnight special law collective for a a legal training for students.
This is a key moment in the development of many young activists, and I want to support them to continue with information about their rights and solidarity techniques.
