Greetings, fellow activist --
The Santa Cruz Civilian Weapons Inspection Team (SCWIT) is excited to announce a new afternoon vigil at the Lockheed Martin Santa Cruz facility, on March 28 from 2:15-4:30 pm.
The Santa Cruz Civilian Weapons Inspection Team (SCWIT) is excited to announce a new afternoon vigil at the Lockheed Martin Santa Cruz facility, on March 28 from 2:15-4:30 pm.
Lockheed Martin continues to be part of the U.S. war machine, operating within our community and making huge profits on war. Here's your chance to express your sentiments about the world's largest weapons producer, which is hiding behind locked gates on a 4,400-acre wildlife refuge at the end of Empire Grade Road in Bonny Doon, designing elements of nuclear weapons and their delivery systems.
The afternoon vigil is scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of March and April between 3-3:45 pm, carpooling from the far end of the Old Sashmill parking lot at 2:15 sharp. Please arrive in time to leave at 2:15. We will gather at the Lockheed Martin gate around 3:00 pm and vigil until 3:45, returning to the Sashmill by 4:30 at the latest.
The first afternoon vigil will be next Tuesday, March 28. Please come join us--it is bound to be a beautiful day! We will have signs or you can bring your own. Bring water, especially if it's a warm day.
If you have any questions on the SCWIT-sponsored afternoon vigil at Lockheed Martin, please contact Lynda at lmarin @ cruzio.com Please rsvp in advance, so we'll know to expect you -- or decide to come at the spur of the moment.
The next afternoon vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25, between 2:14-4:30 pm. Please join us then, too!
SCWIT will evaluate the afternoon vigils and decide whether or not to continue this activity after the two vigils in March and April. Please attend and make it worth our while! These vigils are in addition to the regularly scheduled morning vigil on the second Thursday of every month. The next morning vigil will be on Thursday, April 13. We meet at the Sashmill at 5:30 am, and leave at 5:45 am sharp in order to vigil at the gates of Lockheed Martin from 6:30-7:15 am. Participants return to the Sashmill by 8:00 am. Put it on your calendar! It's a good local action to participate in on the day before Good Friday. For more information on the morning vigil, contact Jane at janeweed717 @ earthlink.net
