San Franciscans unite to stop Redevelopment’s BVHP land grab

Already, San Franciscans from many neighborhoods are bombarding the Board of Supervisors and the mayor with messages of strong opposition to the March 7 decision of the Redevelopment Commission to amend 1,361 acres – almost all of the neighborhood – to a small existing Redevelopment project area.

“Project area” status gives the Redevelopment Agency control over development of the neighborhood and over every piece of privately owned property. The Redevelopment Agency, not the property owner, would have the power to decide the fate of every home and business – whether it will be developed, who will develop it and who will own it – if the Board of Supervisors ratifies the Redevelopment Commission’s decision.

We ask every reader, no matter where you live, to call, email or write the mayor and every supervisor. Find their contact information at http://www.sfgov.org/site/bdsupvrs_index.asp. Tell them not to bring shame on San Francisco by copying New Orleans’ ethnic cleansing of its Black residents. Here is the resolution:
