April 7: T-Shirt Travels What happens to all those old clothes you bring to the Salvation Army or Goodwill Industries? Focusing on Zambia, this journey investigates the second hand clothes business, how it plays a devastating role in the economy and seeks to understand the growing inequalities that exist between the first and third world. The film draws connections between the history of colonialism, slavery, depletion of Africa’s natural resources and the current huge debt and IMF/World Bank structural adjustment policies resulting in terrible suffering from malnutrition, poor healthcare, inadequate schools and a crumbling infra-structure.
