Help needed at the HUNGER STRIKE

by LRCL folks
Volunteers will be especially needed over the weekend, as we expect more
than 20 hunger strikers at that time.
The Hunger Strikers for Immigrant Rights at the San Francisco Federal
Building are coming the end of the second day of their 7 day fast as I write
this. In the last two days hundreds of immigrants and concerned community
members have rallied, marched, and held vigil with the hunger strikers in a
unified call for immigrant rights and denouncing proposed anti-immigrant
bills.

*****WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT*****
Volunteers are needed especially throughout the nights and in the mornings
to:
- ensure hunger strikers are drinking enough water
- to accompany strikers wherever they need to go (shower, bathroom, etc)
- pass out fliers
- gather signatures to tell Senator Feinstein to vote no on the Spector
bill and HR4437
- provide security

Volunteers will be especially needed over the weekend, as we expect more
than 20 hunger strikers at that time.

Please contact Luis at 415-724-2426 to help. You can also come directly to
the strike at Polk and Golden Gate, but it helps us to plan if you can call
ahead to let us know when you can volunteer.

This is an historic and critical action for justice and we need your
presence and support.

In struggle,
Jill

HUNGER STRIKE AND WEEK OF ACTIONS TO STOP ANTI-IMMIGRANT BILLS!
Over 50 hunger strikers and organizations will start a seven-day protest in front of the Federal Building in San Francisco on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 calling for fair and just immigration reform, and to denounce Senator Arlen Specter’s bill that designates all undocumented immigrants as aggravated felons, allows for the indefinite detention of non-citizens, and criminalizes day-labor centers, churches, health clinics and all others who serve, help or work with undocumented immigrants.
