A Message to Central Valley Readers

by crudo (driller9 [at] msn.com)
As this moment, there is one person acting as editor of the Central Valley IMC page, which is myself. It is hard for me to believe that a project that started in early 2004, in a huge meeting of close to a hundered people has lead to a editorial collective of just one person.

While at the moment there are several people who are interested in working with the CV IMC editorial collective, and many people have been submitting stories and photos, here are some suggestions:

1.) If you are interested in working with this indymedia page, please email me at: driller9 [at] msn.com, and let's talk. Editing this page dosen't take the much work, just being able to check it every day, checking emails from the indybay collective, being able to use html codes, basic grammer skills, and also being able to work in a non-hierarchal consensus process with other CV IMC collective members.

2.) Please, if you are posting up a video or photos, please write a small story about what happened, the outcome, etc. Alot of times people here are just posting up photos of events happening, and not writting stories.

3.) Promote your events! Please, before events happen, post them up on the site! The Sactramento anti-war protest drew over 400, I don't remember seeing any announcments for it.

Thank you!

Tough break. What happened to Mike, Dallas and Nick?
by Mike Rhodes (MikeRhodes [at] Comcast.net)
Last July a conflict developed between Rancor (an anarchist collective based in Fresno) and the Community Alliance newspaper, which I’m the editor of in Fresno. Since everyone on the Central Valley Indymedia editorial board, except me, identified with the anarchist perspective, I found it impossible to continue as a member of the collective. Additionally, it was my hope, that by leaving the IMC collective, it would give other people the opportunity to take on more responsibility. Clearly, that has not happened, but I have no idea why. I encourage anyone who uses this site and has the time and energy to work on the editorial board to contact Doug. Doug is a nice guy and easy to work with.

Thanks mike for your stories and work. I have been living outside of Fresno for the last 6 years and have continually read stories you've posted here, which I think are very important for the community. I especially thank you for the work you've done to try to secure a decent PEG agreement with comcast in Fresno. The youth in our city are brimming with creativity and powerful ideas, and it will be an absolute shame if we do not secure for them an adequate medium for expressing their thoughts. As far as letters to the editor, public speaking, and posts here, your name has generally been the only one associated with attempting to get a good agreement, which pretty much makes me really angry with a lot of friends I have still living in Fresno.

I hope you -- IMC people and posters-- are able to find a wide range of contributors, including socialists, greens, democrats, anarchists, poets, furious people and anyone else that's commited to keeping fresno safe from cops, corporations and politicians.

thanks in advance,
josh
