COLLEGE OF ALAMEDA CAMPUS
Alameda Science and Technology Institute is an early college high school in its second year of successful operation on the College of Alameda campus.
Students can earn a high school diploma and also two years of college credit in just four years!
One of the very first “Early College High Schools” started in California, Alameda Science and Technology Institute is a small high school run by the Alameda Unified School District that provides students with personalized attention and rigorous college preparation on the College of Alameda campus.
Funded in part by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, ASTI gives students a unique opportunity to enroll in real college classes while still in high school, not only helping them to reach their true academic potential but also saving students and families two years of college time and costs.
In adherence with core principles of the national Early College High School movement, ASTI particularly encourages students of low socioeconomic status, first-time college goers, English language learners and students of color to apply. Thus, ASTI is a school that prides itself on strong representation of the rich cultural diversity of the San Francisco East Bay Area.
Currently ASTI is recruiting freshmen and sophomores for August of 2006. You do not need to be an Alameda resident to attend ASTI, and we encourage students from neighboring Bay Area communities to apply and take advantage of this unique Early College High School program.
This is a tremendous opportunity for students entering ninth or tenth grade who are interested in an accelerated academic program leading to a successful college experience.
