Green Party Activists at the San Francisco Anti-War Demonstration
Here are some personal impressions with a few snapshots of yesterday's anti-war demonstration in San Francisco.
San Francisco is a wonderful city: full of kind people who really care about building a better world. They should all be Greens!

A Few Photos From A Green Perspective.
The Green Party contingent was stoked: there was a lot of love for Todd Chretien, Peter Camejo, Forrest Hill and everyone else running against those who abet criminals that spread world mayhem with a war built on lies.

Peter Camejo and Todd Chretien are two of the principle leaders of a movement called "A Million Votes for Peace". The principle focus of the movement is to strengthen the anti-war movement by creating a haven for it in the Green Party.

Carol is a Green party candidate running for Congress in California's 14th Congressional District. Read about her and her remarkable, almost single-handed struggle to draw local attention to unanswered questions about the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:

After weeks of wind, cold, and rain (even snow!)-- the rally day was blessed with perfect weather.

Forrest Hill believes "it is time we instituted a just electoral system to defend our freedom and reclaim our democratic rights. With your help, I believe we can institute Free and Fair elections in California and lead the nation down the path of true election reform."

Her button says "Fight the Cancer Industry"
I didn't ask her if she was a Green. She said that she teaches courses on women's health issues.

The smoke seems to be steam coming up from a grill in the street. Three years ago the park in front of City Hall was packed-- one couldn't hardly move. Although the rally had a strong crowd-- the atmosphere seemed much less urgent than in the past. Those present were clearly frustrated with the utter lack of current government leadership and the failure of the media to deal honestly with events that are more urgent than ever.

To me, this women's facial expression is the antithesis of that belonging to Dick Cheney: hers glows with honesty, warmth, and kindness; Cheney's expression looks unalive, cunning, and forced. Hers wants to contribute something to the world. His wants to take what he can get from it.

What would a San Francisco protest rally be without percussion?

Thr joy and fearlessness that comes from loving peace was everywhere evident in the crowd.

Peter Camejo ran with Ralph Nader in 2004 on a platform for Peace and against the war in Iraq.
He is now running for governor of California (against Arnold Schwarzenegger) as part of the Green coalition movement to build a Million Votes for Peace.

Camejo was expelled from Berkeley years ago for protesting the Vietnam War-- the reason given: unauthorized use of a loudspeaker. Nearly 60,000 Americans and 2,000,000 Vietnamese lost their lives in Vietnam. In these not wholly disimilar times, isn't it time we listened to him?

Todd Chretien is a shy, soft spoken gentleman-- save when political issues call on him to stand up and be counted. Then he is a furious and staunch defender against all oppression: in another age he might have been a noble knight! He is running for the U.S. Senate against Dianne Feinstein.

This man illustrates his opposition to the war in an oil producing country by choosing a way of life that is simple, logical, and ecologically sound.
