How to help + PDX and NYC events

Dear Friends,

You may have already heard about every one of these
things below, but just in case you haven't here are
some things you can do during the next few weeks to
help support Daniel.

People have been asking us since Daniel has been
arrested, "What can I do". We have been trying to
maximize people's involvement in this process and have
come up with some ideas. Please do not hesitate to

Here are some ideas:

1-Donate to his legal defense
The costs for this are astounding. Right now, paypal
is the only way but a PO Box will be coming soon.
Click on the Paypal link on the profile or at the
website, http://www.supportdaniel.org and you'll see
the PayPal link on the home page.

2-Sign up to the listserve and keep up to date on case
updates, court updates, benefits etc. Sign up at
http://lists.riseup.net/www/info/supportdaniel_announce
The listserve is fairly low traffic and we will not
share your address with anyone.

3-Check out Daniel's website at
http://www.supportdaniel.org
and send it to 20 [50, 100!] of your friends and
friends who don't know about the case. Stickers with
the website will be coming soon and feel free to
promote it as much as possible. Check out the new

4-Print out the latest flyer at

Do you have local copy connections in New York City?
We can use your help acquiring free photocopies. If
you can help, email us at friendsofdanielmcg [at] yahoo.com
We would like these flyers to be distributed
nationally so if you can, download them, copy them and
post them in bookstores, churches, give them to your
family and distro them throughout your travels.

5-Send Daniel's support myspace profile to people in
your myspace network. Try to send it to people who may
not have heard of Daniel or his case before.
Re-posting our bulletins is always appreciated too.

6-Host a benefit in your city. The costs associated
with fighting these charges are enormous. Any help
that the environmental and social justice movements
can offer is appreciated. Legal costs and travel
expenses from NYC to Eugene for court dates are very
expensive. If you want to help, hosting a local
benefit in your area that ties Daniel's case to local
campaigns etc is great. Film screenings, community
meals, art auctions, parties, garage sales are all
great.

Portland, Oregon: 3 "Green Scare" forums coming up

In response to the recent indictments and accompanying
press campaign, the National Lawyers Guild Portland
chapter and the Northwest Constitutional Rights Center
present a series on the effect of the "Green Scare" on
political dissent.

March 5 - NYC Support Daniel @ St. Pat's for All
Parade

This Sunday, March 5th, meet up with the Family &
Friends of Daniel McGowan as we march through the
streets of Sunnyside Queens in the St. Pat's For All
Parade, and have a fun and festive afternoon helping
get the word out about Daniel's case!

You don't have to be Irish to join us in Queens'
yearly all-inclusive parade celebrating Irish
heritage! We will be handing out flyers and marching
with a banner in support of Daniel, alongside the
dancers, stilt walkers, and the high-energy beats of
the Rude Mechanicals Orchestra and the
Anti-Imperialist Anarchist Contingents.

Daniel McGowan --a Queens native of Irish decent-- is
also an environmental and social justice activist,
unjustly arrested and charged in federal court on
multiple counts of arson, property destruction, and
conspiracy, relating to two incidents that occurred in
Oregon in 2001. Daniel has asserted his innocence by
pleading not guilty to all charges. He is facing life
+335 years in prison if convicted.

Even though he is out on bail, his case is far from
over, and he is still in need of our support! Join us
this Sunday and help Support Daniel McGowan!
