Community Meeting to Decide Future of Transportation in Tenderloin

The event will be held in the Saint Boniface auditorium, 133 Golden Gate Avenue, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. A presentation of the existing conditions, group discussion, and break-out meetings where participants can voice their concerns and ideas about transit will be part of the event. Nelson/Nygaard Consulting Associates, Tenderloin Housing Clinic, Southeast Asian Community Center, and Asian Neighborhood Design, all part of the community outreach team working on the study, are co-sponsoring the event.

The Tenderloin/Little Saigon study represents part of the Bay Area Metropolitan Commission’s effort to create neighborhood-based transportation plans in communities throughout the region. This study, along with a similar study taking place in the Mission-Geneva area, represent the pilot programs for this type of community transit planning.

The outcome of the study will help determine what projects the San Francisco Transportation Authority will seek to fund in the coming years that would benefit the Tenderloin and Little Saigon neighborhoods. Community participation is vital to the success of the event, and the event sponsors hope all can attend.
