2nd annual
'Maggotfest'
@ Eagle Tavern
"2nd Annual Maggotfest,"
a benefit for the film
Maggots and Men,
a provocative historical drama set in Russia in 1921,
recounting the tragic and heroic events of the Kronstadt uprising. ....
Maggots and Men pays tribute to the Kronstadt sailors and
their earnest pursuit of communist ideals.
A thoughtful homage to the Soviet silent era directors, the film expands on the homoeroticism of Battleship Potemkin.
Set in the all male environment of a Russian naval base, but cast with predominantly female-born actors from a range of masculine gender expressions,
Maggots and Men redefines male,
challenges the binary gender construct, and intentionally creates confusion.
LOCAL BANDS: Hey Willpower; Gavin Newsom (members of Fullmoon Partisans), Experimental Dental School; Weasel Walter's Quartet (members of XBXRX).
HARD-CORE, HOMO-CORE & MORE SLIDE SHOW by Martin Sorrondeguy.
FILM & VIDEO BY: Carlos Isael; Christa Erwin; Gary Fembot; David Gantz; Luke Woodward/ Jacob Perez; Siobhan O'Brian; Coral Short; Ilona Berger; Leah Meyerhoff; Justin Kelley/ Veronica Lipgloss; Scream Club; Devon Devine; Jose Rodriguez; Lydia Grey.
