Street Theater/Vigil: Stop Wiretapping Now!

Date:
Wednesday, February 22, 2006
Time:
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Event Type:
Vigil/Ritual
Organizer/Author:
Rev Judy
Location Details:
Justin Herman Plaza
corner Market and Embarcadero

Plan to attend this fantastic event: Vigil: Stop Wiretapping Now!, a Constitution vigil in solidarity with a nationwide MoveOn.org action.

Justin Herman Plaza is at the end of Market Street across from the Ferry Building.

If you can, Please make signs that say “Bush Broke the Law” and “Stop Illegal Wiretapping” (it's perfectly okay to come without a sign too)

The visual is great: an ailing Statue of Liberty (we have a super costume ready) will be played by one of the Raging Grannies. The rest of us who want roles will the medical team with the cure presenting our prescription to Congress Rx: Independent investigation of wiretapping to restore justice.

If you want to look authentic for the camera (this event will be videotaped and posted in Indybay) come in a medical personnel costume...OR just come as yourself and join the Raging Granny "mourners".

To make a faux prescription on a postcard size paper, just write "Prescription" on the top and hand write "Rx: Independent investigation of wiretapping" and you can sign your name and address at the bottom. We'll bring extra materials so you can make a card at the event.

THEN some of us will deliver all the prescriptions to Rep. Nancy Pelosi on Thursday, Feb 23.

Bring a flashlight for the vigil.

Singing will be lead by members of the San Francisco Raging Grannies and the renowned Peninsula Raging Grannies Action League.

Please tell people about this event and ask them to sign up at http://political.moveon.org/event/breakingthelaw/

Let me know if you have questions and/or ideas for how to make this a powerful, media covered event.
