Us and them?

by david davidson (lightropewalker [at] yahoo.com)
Editorial- Why us and them? --- What ever happened to reasoning? and trying to understand and LOVE what one percieves to be the other side?
Indy Media appears to be an objective news outlet much in the manner Fox news presents editorial news as fact, but, I do not think it is. INdy Media has an activist slant. Many of the ideals Indymedia organizers and activists would like to achieve I think may not be found through creating an us/them polarity. Understanding people who are different than you is part of the great mystery that is wonderful in this life. ANd, I have found that indy media and the left has it's own sacred cows, it's own dominant paradigms. Why draw lines? I love cowboys, indigenous people, farmers, mothers, fathers, women, men, people who hate, people who love, racists, fascists, artists, freedom fighters, anarchists, infidels, conservatives, liberals, neo-conservatives, whatever these things are supposed to mean, and everything in between.
If you fear something opprseive and hateful in someone else are you not also fearing that in your self? Honestly I see only people, sometimes they are scared, sometimes they are happy, sometimes they love or lie or fight, most of all i wish happiness, and serenity, i don't care what they have done or who they voted for...
