San Francisco (January 31, 2006) - Thousands converged on Union Square in the heart of San Francisco’s shopping district earlier this evening in order to “Drown Out Bush’s Lies!” during Bush’s State of the Union address. The World Can’t Wait organized event demanded “Bush step down, and take your program with you!” Nearly 3,000 people, including many high school and college students, chanted, drummed, danced, booed and hissed through Bush’s entire speech as it was projected on a large screen. The highlight of the event was the felling of a huge 40-foot “Bush statue”.

Now that we vented our frustration and blew a 50 amp fuse, did Bush step down?

The slogan seems a little hollow and misdirected.

Bush cannot hear us; but it's possible that some members of congress and the senate still can. Those who applaud the fascist warmonger and smilingly cheer when he spins his web of lies need to be removed from office.

Calling/asking/demanding that any of them step down is ridiculous. Americans are not as civicly engaged as Ukrainians, or even Romanians.
We have no mass movement that can realistically claim to be pressuring Bush or anyone to step down.

Maybe our energies should be directed to:
Direct Action and actual disruption of the war machine.
Running peace candidates against all the Democrats.
Occupying Congressional offices until articles of impeachment are introduced.

Demonstrations are good for mutual support and standing together to oppose the warmakers, but now that the Bush Step Down action has failed, what's the next step?

Who's the realist here? 4 questions:

1. How many people in America vote?
2. How many people in America vote for Republicans?
3. How many people in America vote for Democrats?
4. How many people in America vote for other parties (name your flavor)?

Let's crunch those numbers people!

And we do want people to be allowed to vote don't we?

if you want to engage in real debate it must be done in person

The destruction of Fallujah, the holy city of Iraq must be reason enough to implement the constitution for impeachment of high crimes and misdemeanors. Now the playing fields are full of grave yards with thousands of elders, women and children. That is targeting of civilians, and constitutes a war crime by the Geneva Conventions of war (1949) to which the Canadian and American people and all anti-fascist democratic governments of the world are signed on to. As the commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of The U.S.A. that makes him a guilty war criminal. My question is, when are the American People going to remove that adminisration and obey their own constitution and the vast majority of the worlds peoples, so justice and peace can prevail again in this world. Surely the American people are more worthy than obeying a proven lyer and war criminal. No wonder Vermont wants to secede.
