Corruption Scandal Exposes Racism and Discrimination Against SF City Workers
Seventy laborers who were employed by the Department of Public Works director Mohammad Nuru were illegally discharged 2005 and replaced by workers making 50% less. Mayor Newsom and the city signed an agreement with the union LIUNA 261 before this, that the newly hired workers would have their union dues and initiation dues paid by the city. This flagrant discrimination was challenged in an ethics complaint on January 23, 2006 filed at the ethics commission by 16 laborers for this unethical agreement by Mayor Newsom, Director of Public Works Edwin Lee and DPW Deputy Director Mohammad Nuru.
This program will show the filing of the complaint, a press conference at SF City Hall and testimony by the workers who were discriminated against. Also PUC suspended workers Anita Labossiere and Phyllis Porter also provided testimony about discrimination against injured workers who are being harassed and fired illegally. The corruption charges against Mayor Newsom and the city have been censored by the SF Chronicle and the rest of the media in San Francisco.
"Labor Line" and "Labor On The Job" are produced by Labor Video Project.
Labor Line airs every Wednesday from 8:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and
Labor On The Job is programmed the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on San Francisco Cable Channel 29 "Labor On The Job" is also the longest running labor cable show in the United States since 1983.
It is produced and programmed by the Labor Video Project in San Francisco and is also programmed on Philadelphia and St. Louis cable systems.

Mayor Gavin Newsom recently went all the way to Switzerland to learn the values that govern economics and labor. Quality of Life Issues.
Here is San Francisco the Mayor and his cronies have been using SPIN and the Media to adversely impact labor. The case of the Department of Public Works (DPW) is a case in point and the firing of over 40 innocent women and men that worked for DPW.
Men and women who worked for years were suddently terminated to accomodate "thugs" that were given jobs and at less pay.
Mayor Gavin Newsom has failed the poor and the homeless.
He has failed when it comes to killings and shootings.
He has sided with the rich to sent thousands out of the City because of evictions and high rents.
Now, in this City that fought for Labor and Rights that belong to the Laborers - he has chosen to lie and deceive and sent harding working innocent City Workers packing home and some into the street - with unjustified termination.
It is time to expose the Mayor and his cronies that come out with the various Project Homeless Connect, Project this and that - the dots are NOT connected and the bluff is now being called.
When anyone stoops so low to put hard working innocent workers on the dole and waiting in line at the soup kitchens - impacting innocent families with children - justice must be done and the crooks taken to task.
The local newspapers are slow to take on the Mayor and his cronies. The time has come to expose the crooks and their evil deeds. This is a UNION City and the workers will NOT cow down.
