For six weekends, beginning March 17, 2006, leading permaculture designers, activists and instructors will come together at Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) for an intensive, urban-focused Permaculture Design Course, including six Saturday evening public events.
Permaculture is a solutions-oriented, integrative design science based on observing patterns and systems in nature to create human systems that have positive impacts on ecology and foster harmony between humans and the environment. The goal of permaculture design is sustainable human interaction with our environment that meets our needs while increasing our abundance and restoring the ecology of our place.
Course Dates and Times:
Fridays 6:30 to 9 pm, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5:30 pm, and Sundays from Noon to 5:30 pm on the following weekends:
March 17-19 and 24-26; April 21-23 and 28-30; and May 12-14 and 19-21
The Permaculture Design Course is based on the 72-hour curriculum developed by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren, co-originators of permaculture in the 1970s. Participants in the APC Urban Permaculture Design Course will receive a certificate of completion of this standard curriculum. The course also includes all Saturday evening programs; featuring Michael Meade on March 24th, and Starhawk on April 22nd. For more information, see listing, below.
The Alameda Point Collaborative is a unique neighborhood located on 34 acres of Alameda Point. A combination of formerly homeless residents, staff and volunteers that are dedicated to building their lives together in a compassionate community. Together they are one community enriching lives through the sharing of resources and talents.
Course cost, including instruction and materials and evening programs:
$850 before February 17;
$950 thru March 17.
