Just curious whether this is a front group for another sectarian party. Can anyone confirm this?
by just wondering
Does that mean it will not be accessable to those of us with disabilities?
by deanosor (deanosor [at] comcast.net)
It does mean that it is a=inaccessible. There is a flight of stairs. and no other means to get to the 2nd floor. And this from a group that says they support "differently abled" in their mission statement.

And they don't think they're going to have a lot of people. It is a very small space.

As for the other question. I don't think this is a front for a Marxist party. Their documents on the website mention non-violence too much for it to be a front for any Marxist party. Why a group that alledgedly wants to create a world without capitalism would specifically emphasize a tactic (non-violence) in their mision statement and goals is beyond me. Do think capitalists are just going to roll over without a fight?

While we wait for everything to be accessable and smoke free, the world is destroyed.
by straw man
"Everything" does not need to be accessable before we can have accessable meetings. One room needs to be accessable, that's all, no more. One room does not equal "everything. Really. Do the math.

If this meeting would actually prevent the destruction of the world, i'd hop up the stairs. However sadly it will not. So let's welcome everybody we can so we can start something right this time. And don't go putting this on W.C., who never gave the quote you gave, and has never (that i've heard or read) dissed the movement for disabled access, the way you just did.

Thanks for all your comments. I waited for volunteers downstairs, outside in front of the meeting place and it was accessible to all. The meeting was not held upstairs at all. Upstairs was suggested by the store owner who thought there might be a crowd, and upstairs was listed because it was incorrectly presumed there would be an elevator. If anyone has any other suggested ADA accessible sites for future, please suggest them. We telephoned and emailed over 40 venues in the area before using that one. Thanks for your input.

Okay people, I MEAN IT THIS TIME: PLEASE please please don't bring _anything_ that was produced by capitalist means (i.e., no division of labor crap; no corporate-made garbage; and absolutely no Gap t-shirts) this time.

The whole idea here is to show that life without capitalism is possible. We all looked like a bunch of idiots last time! Almost everybody had at least a cell phone that was made overseas; and some of you had on nike socks. It's not funny. It's sad.

So, here's what we're leaving at home:

-- Imported goods. We have to say no to global capitalism. If you have to bring a cell phone, please go get one that was made in America, preferably here in the Bay Area, and NOT BY A CORPORATION! Same goes for cameras. No Sony bullshit. It's embarrassing.

-- Mass-produced items. We MUST resist the division of labor. C'mon people, work together now.

-- Corporate garbage! It's self-explanatory. Why do some of you always have such a hard time with this?!

So, please, if I can encourage you all this time to PLEASE stick with the plan. For the good of the movement, I beg you.

See you all there!
