Elbo Room

San Francisco
Shake it so Kids in Kashmir can Make it! Proceeds will benefit children devastated by the Kashmir earthquake. The night will feature gritty, hard-hitting, and ripping, dance music from Sila and the Afrofunk Experience, dance moves from the Afrofunk Sisters, and African Djs Jeremiah (Liberia) and DJ Mpenzi (Kenya).
On October 8th a magnitude 7.6 earthquake hit the South Asian subcontinent. The epicenter was about 60 miles north-northeast of Pakistan's capital, Islamabad. The impact of the earthquake on children in the area has been particularly devastating. UNICEF reports that between 1.6 and 2.2 million have been affected, with most in desperate need of shelter, protection, food, medical care, and other necessities. More than 17,000 were killed, tens of thousands injured, and surviving children witnessed the horrors of classmates, parents, or relatives killed or injured.
TICKETS: $25 available at Elbo Room and Ticketweb.com
Please bring donations of warm clothes, blankets and jackets.
