He will represent Presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Ambassador Roberta Lajous, International Affairs Coordinator, National Executive Committee, Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI); former ambassador to Austria and Cuba; former Permanent Representative from Mexico at the United Nations (UN) in Vienna and New York; former Director General for North America and Director General for Europe in the Mexican Foreign Ministry. She will represent Presidential candidate Roberto Madrazo.
Deputy Juan Molinar Horcasitas, Congressman, Partido Acción Nacional (PAN); former Professor of Political science at COLMEX and ITAM; for Electoral Counselor for the Federal Electoral Institute; former Undersecretary of Political Development of the Mexican Ministry of Interior. The World Affairs Council of Northern California and the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University are pleased to co-host 2 debates in the San Francisco Bay area between representatives chosen by the Presidential candidates from the 3 major Mexican political parties: the PRI, the PAN, and the PRD. The debates are the first and second of five debates as part the “A Celebration of the Mexican Democracy: Who Should Be the Next President of Mexico” series held January 23-25, 2006. Los Angeles, Santa Ana, and San Diego will host debates, three, four, and five.
