Meeting of the Tribes on Alcatraz

by Francisco Da Costa (frandacosta [at] att.net)
Alcatraz and its brief take over by the Native Americans has always inspired many all over the world but more importantly the many Native American Tribes of California. Here is California many tribes have yet to be put on the Federal Register and this is not Just. Even as we speak we have corruption in the White House and in Washington DC - some folks pretending to help Native Americans and making millions - some of it in the name of Native Americans.

This year as many as 3500 gathered on Alcatraz Island on November 24 early in the morning.

Before sunrise the gathering of the Tribes took place and the Great Spirit was present.

Even as prayers were offered there was something special in the air.

Solidarity with all people including some Palestanian children came to join hands with the Tribes of the World.

Earlier from November 7 to 25, 2005 many good folks walked from Shellmound to Shellmound - from one Sacred Burial Ground to another Sacred Burial Ground to pay respects to those Ohlone in the Bayarea long gone but never forgotten.

The land we see around us - all of the Bayarea was stolen - so it was pertinent that a stop was made on Alcatraz Island on THANKSTAKING DAY to remind the world that not all is well with taking away land and not paying respect to those that owned the land for over 13,000 years:
