Annual Candlelight Vigil for Peace and Justice on December 6
Candles will light the intersection of 16th and J streets in Sacramento on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 4-6 PM as activists hold their annual Candlelight Vigil for Peace and Justice, commemorating International Human Rights Day.
"Peace is a very basic human right," said Winnie Detwiler, president of Sacramento Area Peace Action, "so the past few years have been especially traumatic for those of us who want peace for all peoples. We hope to see a quick end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the next year. We will be at the corner rain or shine. Only the most severe weather will stop us."
Other sponsors of the vigil are the Sacramento Valley Branch of Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Grandmothers for Peace International. For more information, call 916-448-7157.
