Informational Hearing on Schools Located Near Toxic Sites
Assembly member Ira Ruskin cordially invites you to attend a hearing of the Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials
Informational Hearing on Schools Located Near Toxic Sites
Monday, December 5, 2005
1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Milton Marks Auditorium
455 Golden Gate Avenue
San Francisco, California
Please join the Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials and the Committee on Health in a discussion on the topic of schools located near toxic sites and the public health issues faced when children spend their days in close proximity to environmental hazards. The purpose of the hearing is to gather information on the specific problems faced by school districts, particularly those which have schools located in close proximity to sites with potential for exposure to hazardous materials. Such sites might include proximity to Superfund sites, power plants, freeways, factories or other major industrial activity. The hearing will also explore what statewide policies can help address these issues.
To R.S.V.P. for this hearing or if you require further information, please contact Heather Halsey (ES&TM) at heather.halsey [at] asm.ca.gov or call (916) 319-3965. The Milton Marks Auditorium is accessible to persons with disabilities. If additional accommodations for the disabled are needed, please contact Linda Rodriguez at (916) 319-3965 at least 3 days in advance of the hearing.
