What will it take to rebuild New Orleans?
The impact of race, class and devastation after Katrina
Hurricane Katrina exposed the underlying inequality and racism persistent in the U.S. The most vulnerable, including the poor, Black mothers, elders, disabled, and children, died needlessly while thousands were displaced. Two and a half months after the flooding, activists demand equitable relief, rebuilding jobs and the right of return. What will it take to ensure proper federal aid and community control of renewal efforts?
Speak your mind! Bring your songs! Read your poetry!
