Andrei Makarevich is recognized in Russia as the leading songwriter, artist and a musician. The leader of the Mashina Vremeni band (Time Mashine) he was honored with a concert in Red Square two years ago and had a large personal show 50 women of Andrei Makarevich in Manesh exhibiting hall were he presented his works on paper.

A graduate of Architectural School in Moscow Andrei always considered himself a visual artist first and foremost but being a multi-talented person went on to build a successful career in music, film and as a beloved tv personality. He is so popular with Russian speaking population around the world that last year for the anniversary concert in Lincoln Center in New York the tickets were sold out a week in advance.

The show of his works at Broadway Gallery November 2004, that ran after the anniversary concerts included more then 40 grafic works. The show attracted hundred of visitors in a span of a month and was covered by the major Russian media outlets.

This year he supported the effort of Russian foundations in sponsoring the show Russia! in Gugenhiem museum. In November 2005 Andrei Makarevich and the band Mashina Vremeni are scheduled to appear with solo concerts in San Francisco and Los Angelos.

The art to be displayed show only one side of Makarevich's work. As an artist, he uses his strong eye and sensual hand in creating prints and works on paper. His watercolors and mono-types of animals are executed in a manner that mixes Asian sensibility with Russian folklore and icon imagery. His fluid and unconstrained brushstrokes echo the teaching of the Chinese school of painting with their emphasis on the discovery of the essence of things. While the portraits of women reflect the spirituality of icon images. The drawings of fish show his ability as a keen draftsman and at the same time bring out characteristics of creatures with individuality and human spirit reminiscent of the works of 19th century Russian Fairy Tale illustrators.
