At the Eureka Recruitment Center 10/26

by unnamed sources
Yesterday at the recruitment center...
Skullman and CombatK showed up at the Recruitment center at 5pm, the height of rush hour traffic. Skullman had a sign around his neck reading "SEND BUSH TO COMBAT". In his hands he held a sign reading "2,000 too many". CombatK stood further down playing off that, with a sign reading "One is too many". At times she also held a sign reading STOP LYING AND JUSTIFING, bring the troops back home. While we were standing out there a young female came up to Skullman and told him that she liked his sign and asked if she could take her picture with him. Skullman said sure and asked if he should have the flag with BUSH written across it in the photo. The woman said "Absolutely!" She hated the bleep. Her male friend took the photo of HER holding the flag next to Skullman holding his signs. After the picture was taken she said "I ship out in a week." Skullman pulled off his masked and asked her to where. She answered "to IRAQ." Skullman told her she could get out on Entry Level Seperation (ELS). She said she couldn't do that to her platoon. Skullmam then informed her of GI rights. org and informed her that they help people get out of the military. Interested, she asked again who was the group. Then Skullman asked her if she knew what Depleted Uranium was. She said no, so he told her it was a very radioactive substance, what they use for armor piercing bullets and bunker busters. He mentioned how he has friends from Persian Gulf One that are ill from their effects. She looked shocked. Skullman told her that we did not mean her any disrespect. She said she knew, and that she respected us for being out there. She said she used to protest too, that is before she signed up for the military. However...now she's in the Marine Corps. Before she left, she thanked us.

Skullman and CombatK left the recruitment center and headed further downtown to the candle light vigil in front of the courthouse. Instead of standing with the choir (literally) we walked down further to the Federal building with our signs and TORCH lights. We stood there for about an hour. On our way back to the car there was a man in front of us who kept pausing and looking back. He finally stopped, turned, and said "I was in Iraq." Skullman took off his mask and said we were glad he got back safely. The man smiled and said "me too!" He then proceeded to tell us that he hates Bush too, but that he's "not supposed to say that". He said he had been back five months. He told us to not believe our TVs, that the media is lying. "They are good people and all" he said, referring to the Iraqis. He said the worst thing, the thing he hates the most, is the CIA. He told us that he never missed a chance to mess with them. If the CIA came to his check point he said he would always hold them up. He left us with a tip: "Don't watch your TV!"
