We are calling a nation-wide actions to mark the 2,000th U.S. soldier's death in Iraq by organizing actions that make visible their deaths and those of Iraqis who have died in this senseless war. We're supporting the call made by UFPJ member groups -- American Friends Service Committee http://www.afsc.org/2,000/ , Gold Star Families for Peace http://www.gsfp.org and Military Families Speak Out http://www.mfso.org -- for actions on the day after the U.S. government announces the 2000th death.

2000 Too Many leaflet now available at UFPJ!

The Pentagon announced today that five more U.S. servicepeople have been killed in Iraq, bringing the U.S. death toll there to 1988. The sad day is rapidly approaching when the 2000th U.S. soldier will have died in this senseless war.
Many of you are have already announced plans for peace events on the day after we reach this tragic milestone. If you haven't done so already, please make your plans quickly and list them by following the link on the homepage of our website, http://www.unitedforpeace.org
We have prepared a leaflet that you can use to get out the word about your local event. There are two versions -- one with UFPJ's contact information, and one without. Download the files at:
You can add information about your local event by opening the PDF file in Adobe Illustrator. If you don't have access to that program, try the old-fashioned (scissors-and-tape) cut-and-paste method.
All best,
