During the A.N.S.W.E.R. anti-war march in San Francisco Saturday, September 24th, a man was arrested by police and is still in SF Sheriff’s custody. He attended the anti-war march with his wife and sister from Clear Lake. He reportedly moved his sister out of the way of an officer on a bike and an altercation ensued. He was beaten and arrested on a felony charge of possession of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife, on him at the time of the arrest.
He has been held in a single cell for five days. His bail was set this morning at $12,500. He needs to post bond and we are asking for support for him.
He is scheduled to go to court Friday morning at the San Francisco Courthouse, 850 Bryant, room 9, and could use support in any form. Come fill the courtroom, pitch in for his legal fund, show solidarity with someone who has been isolated in jail and needs public support.
Don’t let one man be singled out without support.

GET THIS MAN OUT we are trying to raise bail money if you can try to start up a donation thing to get him out , my gf (peter's sister) was really devastated by his arrest and she has been trying to get donations started at our highschool , if you can spare a few dollars or donate a large ammount all is appreciated.
it's thursday already and people have dispersed. We all have to remember to get these reports out to key central locations, such as posting here or writing down the radio station number. The reason I have avoided voluntary civil disobedience arrests so far is that unlike in the 1950s, nobody gives it a second glance, unless it is a unique and novel issue that no one has heard of yet. While that big arrest on Sunday was next to this big scene of ravers at the Love Parade who were able to watch directly, there was almost zero coverage of this in the paper. So even though it was an unintentional arrest and the crosswalk light said walk!!, not much was gained. It would be best that the group on the scene could be kept up to date, because the court cases for people arrested at the last incident are still ongoing and it is quite expensive for each individual, and the onlookers have no way to remain connected.
He was released on bail last night (thursday) - thanks to all those who helped. You can still support him by showing up to the hearing mentioned above, and by telling the district attorney to drop these bogus charges.
im really glad that my brother is out already
but he borrowed the bail money he got out with
but he has to pay it back, and he really cannot to afford it
it has gotten to the point that me and my friends are trying to ask people at lunch at my school for donations
im sure my brother will be alright, no one has to worry about him
it was actually a "goal" he had, to be arrested in SF for doing something crazy, i guess he achieved that goal.
anyways, i talked to him on the phone and i told him about all these sites that are up
he told me to spread the word that he appreciates it very much
and he will "be back on the streets to cause havoc"
thank you all for the support

I heard his sister wailing that he had been arrested with "two eight-inch long samurai knives"
if it was his goal to get arrested he shouldn't have been holding "two eight-inch long samurai knives" of course, unless it was his goal to rot in jail and get charged with a felony...
What is the law regarding that? I have purchased an 8 inch vegetable knife and put it in a bag and carried it along the sidewalk on the way home. Under what circumstances is carrying a knife illegal... probably if you have it out in your hand? I once walked by someone having a schizophrenic conversation with himself at the bus stop who was waving a big knife in his hand, but he didn't seem threatening.
In Texas, you can carry a gun.

TALLAHASSEE -- Florida businesses could soon face criminal charges if they try to stop employees from bringing guns to work in their cars, thrusting the state into a growing national debate pitting individual freedom against job safety.

Guns are indeed good, very good. Without guns, the big, the strong, the young and the healthy have the advantage over the small, the weak, the old and the disabled. Guns make us equal.
To imply that there is something bad about guns, plays into the hands of reaction. To disarm the working class is not progressive. it's reactionary. Nothing would make our enemies happier than to see us helpless and at their mercy.
As for guns at work, please consider the well known local example of the 101 California massacre. John Luigi Ferri was able to kill eight people and wounded six others for one reason and one reason only. They were unarmed, and therefore unable to protect themselves. There is a name for people who rely on the police, or anybody else, to protect them. They are called "victims."

There are MANY misunderstandings about knife law.
12020 of the california penal code says "a dirk or a dager is a felony if carried concealed".
it also says "sheath knives carried openly are not illegal"
Any folding knife, that is not a butterfly knife (balisong) a switchblade or other automatic knife, or disguised as something else is SPECIFICALLY LEGAL!!!!
So, carry openly, and you are okay.
Don't belive me?
