Greens Applaud Senate Passage of Minimum Wage Increase
Green Party of California urges quick signature by governor of minimum wage legislation to provide aid for 'working poor'
The Green Party is applauding the Senate's passage of legislation that would raise California's minimum wage to $7.75 over the next two years, with annual adjustments for inflation. While Greens are disappointed that the bill still does not introduce a living wage, the bill is viewed to be a step in the right direction. Greens point out that to even meet minimum wages set in 1969, today's economy would call for a wage around $9 per hour. A large number of full time workers are unable to make ends meet. Of these, 80 percent are people of color, and the majority of those are women. For more information, read the full press release.

Now that the government is spending 500 Billion dollars each year to prosecute its war plans, and has spent 7 trillion dollars since 1945 on means of destruction. It would seem that the crumbs thrown to the poor people should be large enough to come to a living wage. As the present military of the U.S.A. has six overkill with push button technology, even this demand is denighed. No living wage allowed but endless wars that hold pollution, poverty, and discriminaltion is official policy. Isn`t it time the American people rose and with a new revolution put real liberation on the agenda, and closed down the war machine and its manufactury?
