Who: Zainab Salbi, Founder and President of Women for Women International (WWI); Recipient of the 2005 Forbes Trailblazer; named “Innovator of the Month” by Time Magazine in March 2005; and author of Between Two Worlds
Event: Lecture/Human Rights/Iraq. Zainab Salbi, a native Iraqi, has dedicated her life to speaking out on behalf of oppressed women around the world. In her new memoir, Between Two Worlds, she documents the mechanism of terror practiced by Saddam's tyrannical regime and describes how fear often lead to blind loyalty and exaggerated demonstrations of love. Despite extraordinary psychological challenges, Ms. Salbi escaped from Iraq and forged a new identity as a champion of women.
