CA MJ Penalty Change Bill Stalled in Legislature
The California legislature adjourned without taking
further action on Sen. Romero's bill SB 797 to change penalties for
marijuana possession. The Assembly will have another chance to pass
the bill when it reconvenes next year.

SACRAMENTO - The California legislature adjourned without taking
further action on Sen. Romero's bill SB 797 to change penalties for
marijuana possession. The Assembly will have another chance to pass
the bill when it reconvenes next year.
SB 797 would make possession of one ounce or less an alternate
$100 infraction or $250 misdemeanor, at the option of the DA or
court. Cal NORML is officially neutral on the bill, but would prefer
some stronger decrim legislation.
