What's My Name, Fool?
Sports and Resistance in the U.S.

Featuring author Dave Zirin
with Dr. Harry Edwards

Friday, September 16th
7:00 p.m.
100 Wheeler Hall
UC Berkeley Campus

Sportswriter Dave Zirin, author of "What's My Name, Fool? Sports and
Resistance in the U.S.," offers a provocative and engaging look at the
exhilarating -- yet often dirty -- business of sports, and the
inspired people who play them. With a scholar's arsenal, an athlete's
sensibility, a sports fan's verve, and a street fighter's acumen,
Zirin engages with the world of sports like no other sportswriter
today. His writing can be found at http://www.edgeofsports.com.

Dr. Harry Edwards, recognized as the leading authority on issues of
race and sports, was the lead organizer of the Olympic Project for
Human Rights -- most famous for the demonstration at the 1968 Olympic
Games by Tommy Smith and John Carlos in Mexico City. He is Sociology
Professor emeritus at UC Berkeley and a consultant to the NFL's San
Francisco 49ers, Major League Baseball, and the NBA's Golden State
Warriors on issues of racial diversity. He is also the author of "The
Revolt of the Black Athlete," "The Struggle That Must Be," "Sociology
of Sports," and "Black Students."

Free and open to the public. Author book signing to follow. Please
